January/February
The legendary Byron Nelson graced the cover of this year-opening edition, with a corresponding feature story detailing his accomplishments in the Chicago District. Nelson won seven of the 15 Chicago-area tournaments he played in, including twice during his record-setting 1945 campaign.
May/June
Readers took a tour across the Chicago District in this issue, which compiled 27 of the top holes that would be hosting CDGA events in 2025. The stage was also set for the fourth iteration of the LaSalle Bank Open, a Nationwide Tour event slated for The Glen Club.
July/August
This summer issue previewed the game’s most promising young players converging on the Chicago District. Fifteen-year-old phenom Michelle Wie was preparing to compete in the John Deere Classic, while the venerable Chicago Golf Club was readying to host its first Walker Cup since 1928.
September/October
The penultimate publication of 2005 took on a celebratory theme. The victorious American Walker Cup team, which included the likes of future PGA Tour pros Brian Harman, J.B. Holmes, Anthony Kim and Jeff Overton, adorned the cover. Brad Marek’s State Am triumph at Crestwicke Country Club was also spotlighted.
November/December
As seen in this edition (link to page on Hank Haney), Hank Haney has returned to the Chicago District for the final phase of his career. As outlined in this issue’s cover story, however, Haney was in the midst of his historic stretch coaching Tiger Woods.
