After more than a century spent administering high-level amateur competitions at many of the top tracks in and around the Chicago District, the CDGA’s 112th season is primed to be one of its best as the spring colors begin to shine through.
“We are extremely excited for the 2025 season with one of our strongest slates in recent years on tap,” said Colin Wadelin, the CDGA’s Senior Director of Rules and Championships. “Each championship features a historic host site that we feel is best fit for that competition and we can’t thank the venues enough for opening their doors to what is sure to be a great year.”
The calendar begins at Kemper Lakes Golf Club, host of the 1989 PGA and 2018 Women’s KPMG PGA Championships, with the 10th playing of the CDGA Mid-Amateur Championship, May 12-14. The event will serve as the first of 10 championships the Association will conduct in 2025.
Annual mainstays on the CDGA agenda again include the 105th edition of the CDGA Amateur Championship, slated for Briarwood Country Club in Deerfield, June 23-26. Then in July, the state’s top amateurs will head to Aurora’s Stonebridge Country Club for the 94th Illinois State Amateur Championship, July 15-17.
Returning to the CDGA’s schedule for a second-consecutive year following decades of success under the Illinois Women’s Golf Association’s guidance, the 92nd Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship will return to The Grove Country Club in Long Grove in mid-June. It is one of two multi-day women’s championships that the CDGA will again oversee, with the 56th Illinois State Senior Women’s Amateur Championship also remaining in the fold at Champaign Country Club this fall.
To round out the year, the CDGA will return to the famed Olympia Fields Country Club for the first time since the 2009 CDGA Amateur Championship, as the 10th CDGA Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be contested on the south-suburban club’s South Course, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
In total, the 2025 CDGA Championship and Women’s Competition schedule will feature nearly 60 events - 10 multi-day Illinois State/CDGA Championships, 28 Illinois State/CDGA qualifiers, 20 USGA qualifiers and the 63rd Radix Cup Matches.
